It's quite a drive to Tighnabruaich, one I'd never taken before, through the heart of the lower west coast, all the way up to Arrochar only to turn back south down the Cowal peninsula, it's a drive worth taking at some point if you never have. It was a fairly exhausting twelve hour plus shoot on the day, it required a lot of complicated lighting set ups, especially in the conservatory, anyone who has tried to light and photograph a sunny conservatory will know exactly what I'm on about.
Gillian Welsh was in charge of the art direction, thankfully she has a complete understanding of the lighting processes required to get good clean sharp interior photographs. We were flat out all day, it was a pretty big holiday home, interior designed by Amanda Rosa Interiors, with a lot of design details to pick up on. The opening shot above cost me dearly in midge bites, shot at 5am in the morning as the sun rose, we were close to the summer solstice at this point, it was stunning.
